Teaching & Pedagogy
My teaching, like my research, combines critical and constructive dimensions. I am inspired by the Socratic tradition in philosophy and in the legal classroom to create conditions for students to critically reconsider their belief systems to free their minds from ideas that grate their integrity. I am inspired by the Business Policy tradition at Harvard Business School to empower students with useful frameworks of practical reason designed to help them more successfully achieve their goals in alignment with their personal values and commitments.
Areas of Expertise
Professional Ethics
Professional ethics takes stock of the rights and responsibilities of your professional role–not only as they are but as they should be. Consequently, professional ethics involves a political theory of how your profession fits into the whole of society and its forms of governance.
Global Governance
We are in a post-national world where the rules of the game emerge from a patchwork of legal regimes and international norm-setting organizations. How do the pieces fit together? How should they fit together to create spaces that promote cooperation–within and across national boundaries?
Responsible Strategy
Strategy is about where you want to go and how best to get there. Responsible strategy starts from your sense of purpose and caring about how your strategy impacts others and the planet.
